Dee's Crib Rocks!!!!!!!

I thought this would be a fitting blog since Darian slept through the night last night in his crib, and put himself to sleep for the first time.  He usually has to be nursed and held by mommy in order to go to sleep like a big boy, but last night we let him cry!  We've tried to let him cry himself to sleep before, but mommy couldn't stand it (either could I, I admit), so she ended up going and getting him after about 15 minutes.  He cried pretty good for about 10 minutes, and Rik got up to go get him, but almost as soon as she got out of bed he got quiet, and just layed there and talked a little bit.  Then it got too quiet and neither of us could sleep, so we decided to go check on him.  He appeared to be sleeping, but one of his legs was sticking out between the crib slats, so Rikki approached to move him and he jumped...startled!  He was awake and just staring at his uber cool puzzle wall or something, just zoning out, almost asleep.  So when he realized we weren't picking him up out of his crib he started to cry again for another 10 minutes or so, before dozing off all by himself!!  We then lay in bed, not sleeping, and Rik asked me to check on him again before i fell asleep.  I of course got tired and turned over to go nighty night, and Rik, being awake still, realized i was turning in, and stormed out of bed (all huffy puffy) to go check on him herself since i obviously didn't feel it necessary!! :) It was a bit comical really!  Needless to say, it's a bit hard for mommy to go to sleep when you're not sure if he's awake rolling around in his crib getting ready hurt himself in a thousand possible ways! It was a good night though...baby steps...

Hogg's visit...

Heather and Spenser stopped over a couple weeks ago and brought us a Christmas ornament for Darian's 1st Christmas!  Thanks guys!  Their visit coincided with Deedlebug's improved rolling ability, so he wanted to show off his skills by playing on the floor with Spenser!

100th blog post!! SMILE...and show your pearly white (singular)!! :)

Tonight i'm celebrating my 100th blog post!  Yippie!  Mommy and Dee are sleeping in the nursery together, looking cute as always!  This blog is going to be short, but will highlight what's been the most exiting and painful milestone is young Darian's beautiful life!  The trials and tribulations of his first tooth!!  Actually, he had his second poke through on Sunday evening, but i don't yet have photo proof.  It was a rough night on Sunday for the poor guy.  Finally got him to sleep shortly after midnight, but he was up and down all night.  I don't think Rikki got more than a couple hours sleep!  See his wonderful smile!  Ok, so he's not actually smiling, more of a cry really...but cute and heartbreaking at the same time...

Six Months Old and Seeing Santa!!

Our big blue-eyed baby boy turned 6-months old yesterday!!  We partied by waiting in a decently long line to see Santa for the first time!!  Darian fell asleep in the car on the way, and slept for most of the time while we waited in line, but he woke up on his own when we were close to seeing Santa.  He awoke in a good mood, as usual, and had fun watching all the excited kids in line.  We met some nice people in line behind us, and they took a group picture for us! It was really cold, so we dressed 'Santa's Little Helper' in his snowsuit, which is a wee bit too big, but he'll grow into it!  I have to get the zipper fixed already though, as it broke!  Deedlebug was pretty content sitting on Santa's lap! I thought he might pull his beard, but i don't think he really noticed Santa much, since he wasn't facing him!  He did get a little flirtatious with Mrs. Claus though!  Darian has really been such a joy this first 6 months!  Despite hard economic times, paycuts, daycare costs, essentially being the poorest we've ever been...it has been the BEST 6 months of our lives by far!!  So much to be thankful for!  He's growing and learning so much everyday!  I hope he's half as happy having us as parents as we are having him as a son!!
