15 weeks...mommy's birthday! More family to meet!

Happy Birthday to mommy!! She turned 29 years young today...and is more beautiful than ever!! We've had a good week! Tuesday GG & GG Girton came over to see Darian and for grandpa to fix our sink! We got it fixed while Grandma played with Dee, then all went to dinner! It was great to see them! Thanks for dinner GG's! Darian has been doing really well at daycare, although I did receive a phone call from Eula yesterday because one of the toddler girls tripped and fell into Darian and conked him on the head with a toy she was carrying. He has a little bump, but nothing serious, and Eula said he didn't even cry! Tough little guy! He was eating when it happened, so he probably was too into his lunch to care! :) I received a call from my cousin Gavin yesterday as he was on his way to La Guardia airport in NYC to fly back to Indy for a few days. I gladly offered to pick him up from the airport when he landed. Unfortunately, we had to traverse I-465 during rush hour in the rain to get home and pick up Darian and Rikki! It was well worth it however, as I was able to catch up with my cousin! Gav got to meet and hold Darian briefly, then we left to meet My Aunt Dianne and Uncle Max at Ted's Montana Grill to have dinner! It was great to see them! Dianne held Dee a bunch and loved him instantly! So much in fact that she demanded Gavin get to work on providing her with a grandchild of her own!! Too funny! Rik, Gav and I all had Bison burgers, Uncle Max had a regular beef burger, and Aunti Di the cedar plank salmon! It was very tasty! Thanks for dinner! Tonight we are off to Verizon to see Kings of Leon in concert! Gma Tia is coming to stay and babysit, and then is taking Rikki shopping tomorrow! Love you all...

Mommy and Daddy's Anniversary!

It's been a little while since I last blogged...we've been pretty busy! Today is our 6th wedding anniversary! We've had a wonderful week and weekend! Darian has been doing so well! He seems to be enjoying daycare, but Eula had to purchase an activity toy for his pack-n-play because he gets bored easily! We had a little bit of drama earlier in the week...Dee didn't want to nurse from mommy, only wanted a bottle for about a day and a half. Mommy was distraught...in tears, and completely convinced her nursing days were over and she would only be pumping from now on!! Everything went back to normal and has been great the rest of the week! We had a wonderful dinner on Tuesday evening with Marc and Jess at a local Mexican restaurant. Friday night Nana Mel came to babysit so Rik and I could hang out together and celebrate our anniversary together. We ordered a pizza and ate with Nana Mel. We went to Target to do a little grocery shopping and then went to Hamilton Town Center to see a movie! We saw 'Inglorious Basterds'!! It was really good! Rikki dozed off a little during the movie though:) She's been pretty exhausted, so I can't really blame her. She's been getting up at 4:30 every morning, and hasn't been able to get to bed any earlier than normal! Ahhh...the joys of parenthood! Saturday we hung out during the day and Rikki went to Gen Wegg Murray's baby shower downtown at the Cantebury Hotel in the afternoon! Darian went with her and they had a great time. Today has been pretty low key. We went to Target to get each other anniversary gifts! I got Pearl Jam's new album...which is really good, and mommy got a pair of shoes. Now we are watching some football, cheering on our fantasy teams, and loving on our little man! He's really been a happy boy today...laughing and smiling a ton! Looking forward to the Colts on Monday Night Football tomorrow! Blog ya later...

Baby Darian's first week in school!

Ok....so he's not actually in school, it's simply daycare, but it feels better to let him go that way! He's actually done really well. Eula and Sheree say that he is very content during the day! I'm pretty sure he's already made some friends, and everyone thinks he's really cute. We wholeheartedly agree!! Today he was home with mommy all day and she loved it! She wanted to sleep in, but was up nursing around 6am and just decided to stay up and clean since GG Ann and my Uncle Doug Dwiggins were coming over this evening to see our humble abode for the first time! Mommy and Dee went to Loni's to workout late morning and had a nice time. He was a happy boy with mom. GG Ann and Uncle Doug visited Auntie Charlene this afternoon before coming to our house. They had the wonderful privilege of cruising around 465 during Indianapolis rush hour. Needless to say, it took them a while to get here from Greenwood. We gave them the tour (took 38 seconds) and Gma fed Darian a bottle and played for a little while. We then went to Houlihan's at Hamilton Town Center and had a wonderful dinner! Thanks Grammy! Every one's food was yummy and it was great to see Grandma and my uncle Doug. He's heading back to Virginia tomorrow on his "SWEET" (for grandma) Harley soft tail fat boy. Have a safe ride Doug! Going to try to watch a movie with Rik tonight after Dee crashes! Later gators...

Much love,
Zach, Rikki, and Darian

Staycation...

Rik, Darian and I had a wonderful vacation last week! We didn't do a whole lot, but that's how we wanted it...plus we're broke! :) So we went back to Winchester for a few days and mooched off the family! We stayed 2 nights at the Saratoga Inn (the place is so cheap though...they don't even have a heated pool) and had a great time! We layed in the sun, read books, played with Dee, walked around the big city with Rik's Aunt Amy and cousin Samantha. Wednesday evening we met Nana Mel, Rick, and Kara, Tia and Neil, and Doug and Ann at the Mexican restaurant in Winnie for a little fiesta! Rick turned me on to the pizza and let me tell you...it's delicious! Had a coupled margarita's and a grand ole time! Thursday evening we went to Paps (Gpa Tony) for a cookout! Toni's daughter Cory came over for a while to meet Darian. We had a wonderful time. Tony slow grilled a yummy pork tenderloin and Toni made a tasty version of scalloped potatoes on the grill! Friday morning we took the dogs to Dr. Howell's for their yearly shots and good stuff! They weren't too scared and did really well. GiGi Tia babysat. We made a brief stop at GG Reish's house before we headed to lunch with my Gma Ann and Dad at the Randolph Grill. Rik and I hadn't eaten there yet. It was really pretty good. After lunch we went back to Gma Dwiggins to let her win a few card games and play with Dee! He really just loves his Great Grandma's! Rik and I were talking about it on the way back to Indy Friday evening. He just lights up when he's around them! Must be their beautifully aged faces! :) We spent Saturday relaxing around the house then had a nice dinner with Jason, Sheri and Ethan at Alibi's. Sunday we spent the afternoon over at Luc's for a cookout which was great fun! Yesterday (Labor Day) we went to Eula's to drop off Darian's pac-n'-play, diapers, bottles, and wipes for his first day today! Then we went to the mall so mommy could calm down a bit with a little shopping therapy! She purchased a few outfits and I some new books! We had dinner at Red Robin...then home to try to get Darian to bed so we could turn in early. It didn't work too well. He was up till 10:30 or so! He seems to be a night owl like his daddy! And he usually wakes up in a really good mood...even after a short little nap. But he's also sometimes moody like mommy and his aunt Missy. Such a joy...such a joy!!!!

Baby Darian's first day at Daycare :(...

Today is a sad day in the Girton household! Baby Dee went to daycare this morning for the first time! Rikki is back at work for the first time in 13 weeks. You'll notice her absence from the photos at daycare...as she was standing by the front door crying! :( Darian's daycare provider is Eula Jackson...but the kids all call her Titi. Counting down the hours till we get to pick him up this afternoon! Rikki is doing ok now, but it will take her a few weeks to adjust fully I imagine. As you can see, he was sleeping when we dropped him off, and Rikki worried that he would wake up screaming in a new environment and want his mommy! :( I think he'll be fine. He'll probably have fun staring at all the kids. Well, I'll keep you posted on how everyone's first day went...plus I need to fill everyone in on our staycation last week! More tonight...
