Clifty Falls State Park!! 9/1/2012

Clifty Falls is one of the nicest State Parks we've been to so far!  We really enjoyed at...as you shall soon see!!  The campground only seemed to be about half full, so it was really mellow and quiet!
We took our first short hike Friday night after we arrived and got all set up!
 "You coming dad?"
We used the self timer a lot this trip and got some decent family photos!  We took our small point and shoot Leica instead of the bigger Nikon we usually use, and I was disappointed with the quality of some of our photos.  Oh well.
 Chow time!

Who needs a tub full of toys when you have gravel, leaves, sticks and a Solo cup!

 At the Nature Center
Mom and Dee doing a puzzle!
We took a short hike from the Nature Center to the observation tower.  This is the view of the Ohio River.

 Another pretty good family shot!
It was a pretty serious hike (steep with drop-offs) to get down to the creek bed.
We made it safely, then changed into our water shoes for some fun!
So happy to be playing in the water!

Looking for minnows and crawl dad's.

So much fun!!!
Dee of course had to stop on the "stage" for an impromptu concert on our return hike!
He was being such a little ham.  He kept saying, "Hi cute girl" to any girls we passed on the trail...and "Welcome to the trail" to everyone!  :)
He did such a great job hiking!

King of the hill!
Madison, In is a really cool town!  We had lunch at a cool little barbecue joint right on the Ohio River, then walked down main street and found a little ice cream shop!
Yum!
Back at the campground.
We discovered this little stage and Dee just had to bring his guitar back to play a concert!
Several campers walking by stopped to watch and listen, and cheered when he was done!
He even had some cars honk when they drove by!  Too cute.
"Man, that kids was pretty good, huh mom?"

Getting ready to do a final hike before heading home!
Lots and lots of stairs to get own to the trail!
Too much sunlight on us, but I was mostly trying to get the rock face in the background anyway!

There used to be an old railroad that ran through this area.  All the stones were cut and stacked essentially by hand, by using mules and oxen for the heavy lifting.

It doesn't get much better than spending quality time with my best buddies and mother nature!

The little daredevil wanted to sit as close as possible to the edge.  You can see Rik's shadow getting ready to yank him back if he started to act silly.  He didn't.
Love that kid so much!

  Playground.
:)
We actually took one more hike before we left.
2-thumbs up little buddy!
My life.  My love.
There's his REAL SMILE!  Love him to pieces!  What a great weekend!
