We decided to pack up our trailer and head north to find some snow! We went to Pokagon State Park in Angola, In, on the banks of Lake James. What a wonderful state park. There was probably
2-3 inches of snow on the ground in some locations!
After setting up camp we drove across the park to the parking lot at The Potawatami Inn. From there we did a 2.5 mile hike. It was a great time! Dee got pretty tired, so Rikki and I had to take turns carrying him the last mile or so, so we got pretty tired too!
Off into the woods! He absolutely loves being outdoors in nature!
Love.
"Hey, you guys coming?"
Hiked off into this little wetland area for a photo op.
We were looking for frogs and fish under the frozen water.
We thought it was a good spot for a family photo.
Such a happy little boy!
He wanted to climb and jump off of anything and everything he could find!
Getting some AIR!
Almost out of the woods!
Cookie time while we waiting to order our dinner at the Inn!
This was after dinner. We headed next door to ride a tobaggon for a while! It was so much fun! Dee sat in the front, Rik in the middle, and I sat in the back. We got up to 34 mph on both runs! We finished up at the warming center with some coffees and hot cocoa for Dee. Then headed back to our site and had a fire under the stars...complete with smores!
Sunday morning snow play...
around our roaring camp fire!
SNOW BALL FIGHT!
I love this kid so much.
Off on a quick sled hike!
Heading down to the playground by the Lake James beach!
Who says you can't enjoy a playground in the winter!?
We did!
The slide was pretty fast with his snowsuit!
Darian wanted me to do the tire swing with him! I got in ok, but had a tough time getting out! :)
Of course we had to pretend that the docks on the beach were stages!
Just enough snow left on this hill for a little trick sledding!
Getting ready to stand up...
diving out...
tuck and roll!
Found a nice stump to jump off of!
He wanted to jump off the highest part but we wouldn't let him!
We can't afford another trip to the ER! :)
Dee and Rikki in front of the Potawatami Inn. We went there again for lunch on Sunday!
Hugging the wolf!
All that playing made us hungry!
Impromptu air guitar solo!
We had such a wonderful time, and will definitely go camping year round from now on!
